Valle Crucis Conference Center (near Boone, NC)

“On Nothing Less:  Building our Hope in Jesus Christ”

Expect a beautiful venue with Blacknall and St. John’s friends— from singing to snacks, and skits to solitude.  Check out the brochure attached to this mailing.  We welcome Blacknall and St. John’s women and friends as we learn how to build our hope and identity in Christ. While contemporary culture tells us that self-esteem and hard work are the path to a happy life, the Scriptures paint a different story. Through Biblical teaching, we learn how to enjoy a close, loving relationship with Christ and walk with him day by day, so that we can weather life’s storms — and model hope to others. Speaker Connally Gilliam and worship leader Kendra Husband will help us meditate on:

  • Where we are –taking an honest look at everyone and everything that swirls around us
  •  Whose we are —engaging with the God who sees, knows, and loves us in the swirl
  •  How we are —living as women centered in Biblical hope within the swirl

We’re excited to return to the Valle Crucis Conference Center in Banner Elk this year for our retreat. The center’s rustic inn and buildings overlook a peaceful, rural valley in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Valle Crucis’ natural beauty, meeting space, and communal living quarters will help us reflect, share, and renew our spirits. Please plan on sharing a room with one or more women and eating family-style meals in the conference center dining room. Our lodging consists of five separate buildings, each with its own charm and history. During your free time on Saturday you’ll have the option of taking a guided hike, shopping at an old-fashioned general store, enjoying a crafts session, or enjoying another planned or spontaneous activity. More information is available at the center’s website:
